Gayle Rocz | SHE/HER/HERS | Omaha, NE
Gayle Rocz is a dance artist currently based in Omaha, Nebraska. She graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in the summer of 2020 with a bachelor's degree of fine arts in Dance and English. During her time at UNL, Gayle was deeply involved with her dance program and the Lincoln community as a dancer, choreographer, and teacher. Her most recent projects include: an experimental, outdoor dance experience called The Moving Truck--directed by Lauren Simpson--and choreographing/directing for Making Space with the support of tbd. dance collective and OutrSpaces.
For Making Space - Gayle created a film, entitled Case Study No. 1: Omaha, Nebraska featuring a small group of Omaha based dancers.
“My video project is a small case study into the world of ex-youth competitive/studio dancers in Omaha, Nebraska. My goal is to seek out dancers with different perspectives and identities than me, and ask them to reflect on their upbringing in the competitive/studio dance world through movement.” - Gayle Rocz
